2025 Season Review

(St. Louis, FTD)

The St. Louis Cardinals' incredible season came to an end in Denver as the Rockies won the best of 5 series (3-1). It wasn't the way anyone wanted the season to come to an end. However, at the end of the day, only one team can walk away unscathed. The 2025 St. Louis Cardinals team put together some historic numbers and moments along the way. We take a look at a few of those:

Wins- (103)- The 103 Regular season victories are the most in 21 years. The (2004) team finished 105-57. The 103 wins were the second-highest total since the Organization was created in 1875. It was the 10th time the Franchise has eclipsed the 100 wins total mark.

Attendance- (3,626,429)- The 2025 team was able to break the Franchise attendance record for an entire season. The record was previously set by the 2020 World Series team in year one of From the Diamond.

Gate Revenue- ($ 90,727,167)- This led the entire MLB during the 2025 season

Season Profit- ($ 84,194,326)- The Cardinals organization takes great pride in the financial side of Front Office Management. The $ 84,194,326 number even comes with the addition of 3 mid-year substantial contracts of Meadows (18M), Pearson (10.9M), and Correa (15.2M) to help solidify the roster.

The Good:

3B Nolan Gorman

After producing season-high numbers the year before the Cardinals star put together one of the greatest power seasons in Franchise history. Gorman hit 55 Home Runs to lead the National League, the most by a Cardinal since Mark McGwire hit 65 in 1999. The 25-year-old also led the NL in RBI's with 135. He finished with a career-high in WAR (4.3), SLG (.599), OPS (.929), OPS+ (152), Hits (152), OBP (.329), and AVG (.258). "He was the MVP of our Team, I'm probably biased, but I think he was MVP of the League. Nolan had huge hits all season long from the middle of the order and carried the offense the entire year, even when opponents knew he was the guy."

CL Craig Kimbrell

The eyebrows were raised when the Cardinals traded one of their prized hitting prospects in Vic Mendoza to the Dodgers for Kimbrell. It turned out to be one of the most beneficial deals in GM Jonathan Ferguson's career. Kimbrell went 38 for 39 (97%) in save opportunities. He also put together a 3.09 ERA in 66 games. "Craig was everything and more. The way he stabilized the back of the pen was just awesome to watch."

OF Dylan Carlson

Dylan produced another All-Star season in 2025, even despite missing 4-weeks with an injury. He won Hitter of the Month in July hitting .314, 9 HR, 22 RBI. For the year he posted an AVG (.285), 27 (HR), 96 (RBI), .374 (OBP), and 4.5 (WAR). "The kid is just so good. I've run out of ways to validly express his value on our Organization. He can do it all."

SP Ryan Helsley

The once Reliever turned Starter continues to prove that was a good decision. He made his 3rd straight trip to the All-Star game. His 3.6 WAR led the entire pitching staff in 2025. The organization was able to avoid Free Agency by locking him to a 3-year 66 Million Dollar deal. "It took some long nights, but we wanted Ryan to be here, and the feeling was mutual. He brings such a presence to our pitching staff. We weren't going to just let that walk out the front door."

CF Brody Drost

The Rookie was without question the X factor on the 2025 roster. He was able to become the focal point in a solid Cardinals defense. Drost put up some defensive numbers that mirrored the success that Harrison Bader provided in years past. The 17.6 (ZR) was able to become his pitchers calming force. The guy known for his Elite glovework was also able to hit 19 (HR), 63 (RBI), and 3.6 (WAR) from the back end of the order. "What makes this story so wild is he lost the starting job battle to Blaine McIntosh after spring training. It was an unfortunate injury to Blaine that gave Brody the opportunity, and boy he crushed it."

RF Pete Crow-Armstrong

In his first complete season in the show, the former #1 Overall Prospect was outstanding. While, hitting leadoff all season long he led the National League in (Runs) 114, (Triples) 14, and (Walks) with 96. He also produced .377 (OBP), 18 (HR), .834 (OPS), and 3.7 (WAR). However, the Cardinals GM thinks he just touching the surface. "Pete is so damn talented. He has some of the best tools I've ever seen in this game. The kid will be in the 'Best player in the Game' conversations here real soon."

RP Luke Little & Justin Lange

These two young relievers were rock solid in the bullpen all season. The pair mirrored stats all season long. Little posted 91.1 (IP), 0.95 (WHIP), 2.46 (ERA) and .157 (AVG) in his second full season. Meanwhile, Lange in his rookie campaign put up 90.2 (IP), 0.93 (WHIP), 2.38 (ERA), and a .177 (AVG). "Those two were fun to watch. They had friendly battled going on who would post better numbers. It's gonna be neat to see them in that Cardinal Red for many years."

The Bad:

SP Patrick Murphy- The talented Right-handed pitcher was destroyed by injuries during the 2025 season. He amounted to 8 separate injuries and didn't provide the team with any sort of security. This issue has become a huge worry within the organization. "We love Patrick when he's playing, unfortunately, that hasn't been much over the last two years."

RP Ben Heller- Ben struggled during most of the year to find any type of consistency in the Cardinals bullpen. This coming one year after putting together a career-best season. His 5.02 (ERA) was his worst since his 2021 season. Heller was still able to produce a 0.9 WAR to give the organization hopes that this was just a hiccup. "Ben has been so solid for us since coming over from Baltimore in the 22 seasons. This was odd to watch because he usually in the conversation as one of our best pen arms."

The Ugly:

October 10-13 - In a season filled with so many outstanding moments, the offense hit a buzz saw at the worst time. In what became the final three games of the season the offense went ice cold. In the last 27 innings of ball, the team only scored 2 runs, and two of those games were in Coors field. "It was a real bummer to go out like that. I think after that Game 2 the guys kind of pressed. Credit to the Colorado arms and their offense for striking early to compound the issue."
