Updated: Aug 29, 2020

(FTD, St. Louis)

The Cardinals are calling up two of their top hitting prospects to finish the 2020 year. Outfielder Dylan Carlson and Catcher Andrew Knizner will join the team in Wrigley. "This was a difficult decision. We wanted to give those guys a full calendar year in Memphis (AAA). However, we think these guys can help us right now. We're in a daily fight with the bats to score runs. The hope is these two will be the spark needed to help light the fire." said GM Jonathan Ferguson.

Both of these players were having tremendous years. They both were going to be eventual August 1 roster expansion adds. However, the offense wasn't doing much of anything to delay the decision any longer. "I just think the timing is perfect, we wanted to win the AAA division title. Now it's time to win a bigger one," said Ferguson

Carlson is hitting .319 with 30 HR, and 103 RBI. He also boasts a 4.8 WAR. "It's time. He's a smooth swinging player. Has all the talent in the world. Cardinals fans and just pure baseball fans are going to fall in love."

Knizner hit .342 with 12 HR, 71 RBI, and a .409 OBP. His WAR also sits at an impressive 4.3. "This move with Andrew has probably been the one most delayed. He's been ready for that job. We have had two supreme leading veterans at the position. He's earned this. We can't hold him back anymore."
