(FTD, St. Louis)
The pair of Cardinals were given the news by league officials. Center fielder Harrison Bader and Catcher Yadier Molina have won National League Gold Gloves for those respective positions. This is the first time Harrison Bader has won honor. Bader has quickly propelled himself into the best Outfielder in baseball conversation. His range zone coverage is pretty much unmatchable to replicate. โHeโs gifted. We saw it daily during the regular season. The baseball world saw it in the World Series. Heโs an absolute game changer.โ said Cardinals Manager Mike Shildt. The 26 year old Bader takes pride in his craft. โI work really hard to try and be the best. This honor does give my efforts some validity.โ said Bader.
Meanwhile, for Catcher Yadier Molina this marks number ten of his career. The Captain and true heartbeat of the organization put together another beautiful season behind the dish. Molina now 38 put in his career-high in (Range Factor), and lead the pitching staff to a combined 3.60 Earned Run Average which was the best in all of baseball. The impact of the veteran behind the plate canโt be stressed enough for the 1st year Cardinals General Manager. โHe makes this team go. The way he commands the entire organization is unbelievable to watch. When people think of the face of the St. Louis Cardinals Yadi will be in that discussion.โ
Molina now inches closer to Ivan โPudgeโ Rodriguez for the most in this history of the position. His 13 gold gloves still tops the charts. For Molina itโs a record he wants to attempt to overtake. โI love winning. I want to win everything I do. Pudge is someone I looked up to coming into baseball. It would be a great honor.โ said Molina.
