Cardinals add Nate Pearson, Austin Meadows, and Carlos Correa to the Organization.

(FTD, St. Louis)

June 5th, 2025

The St. Louis Cardinals were busy on Wednesday as they made a pair of big deals. Pitcher Nate Pearson was added from Boston for a pair of Prospects (1B Willis Fausti & RF Mario Arce) from the Cardinals International Complex. Pearson struggled during his brief time in Boston. Those inside the St. Louis building believe the talent in that right arm could be better suited on this pitching staff. "He has some of the same tools that have been successful here. We think his attributes will translate here" said GM Ferguson.

Later in the day the Cards would contact the Braves about a potential move regarding another talented but struggling player in OF Austin Meadows. The talks progressed quickly and the addition of 3B/SS Carlos Correa in an eventual deal made sense. St. Louis offense has done an solid job to this point of the season. However, it was still a couple bats short of being complete. "We think this is the move to help get us to where we all want to go. Austin and Carlos are All-Star players. It's a good fit" continued Ferguson.

The Injury to All-Star Dylan Carlson made a move necessary. He's expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a strained abdominal muscle. "When we get Dylan back it'll open up a plethora of lineup options".
