Cardinals win the National League Central

St. Louis Cardinals claim the Division Title

The Cardinals clinched the Division Title with a much needed 5 game win streak to wrap up a post season birth. September was full of challenges with the Cardinals going 9-18 with many losses and injuries.

The magic number heading into a crucial road series with division runner up Cincinnati sat at 4 games. It was the Cards that flexed their muscles and swept the Reds in a three game set (8-4),(6-4), (5-1) to end all the drama.

"I was proud of my guys. We have had some difficult times around here as of late. For these guys to get off the mat and punch back was inspiring" said Mike Shildt.

Tommy Edman would put together a big time series going 6-15 (.400), HR, 7 RBI, 3 run, 2 Stolen Bases. "I had to get the job done. We saw the opportunity to start fresh in the month of October. We did just that. It was a credit to this club" said Edman.
