The Cardinals selected Jacob Maton out of Coastal Carolina University. Maton the younger brother of Phil (White Sox) and Nick (Cubs). St. Louis went with the right-handed arm for the #56 pick in the 2nd Round. He put together a stellar collegiate career going 17-7, 2.56 ERA in 231.2 Innings pitched. His 12.4K/2.8BB (320K/45BB) per 9 inning for his career jumped off the charts.

St. Louis will give him the opportunity to become a starting pitcher. "He's a guy we could see in many roles. We love how he pumps the strike zone. Jacob is a guy that isn't afraid to challenge hitters. He trusts his stuff and that's invaluable," said the Cardinals GM.
