Home Field Advantage: McNeil, New York Open League Championship Series with Win
The New York Mets started the League Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field by a score of 9-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Mets third baseman Jeff McNeil was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
Had Amed Rosario not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Rosario hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mets.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," McNeil said. "We did a good job of that today."
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Citi Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Dakota Hudson for the St. Louis Cardinals and Marcus Stroman for the New York Mets.

DeJong Blasts Mets, Cardinals Take Game 2, 7-6
In a crucial game, the St. Louis Cardinals put on their best show, beating the New York Mets by a final score of 7-6 today. Paul DeJong went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. St. Louis and New York are now tied at 1 win apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until DeJong delivered big-time for St. Louis, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Jeurys Familia. The game-changing hit put the Cardinals on top, 7-6.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14th, 2020. The scheduled starters for the game are Marcus Stroman for New York and Carlos Martinez for St. Louis.

New York Grabs 2-1 Lead in LCS
With starter Trevor Bauer leading the charge, the New York Mets crushed the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-2, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series today. Bauer threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball at Busch Stadium as New York breezed to a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
New York relied on the hitting of Jeff McNeil to pick up the win. The third baseman ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the second inning to put the Mets on top, 7-0. For the game, McNeil had 1 triple and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," New York manager Luis Rojas told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Marcus Stroman for New York and David Price for St. Louis.

St. Louis Advances to World Series
The St. Louis Cardinals are riding high after winning the League Championship Series and eliminating the New York Mets by a series score of 4-2.
The final blow came tonight at Citi Field when St. Louis secured its spot in the World Series with a 15-4 victory.
"It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said second baseman Kolten Wong, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance."
Wong certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .364 with a .481 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 9 runs.
The St. Louis Cardinals will play against the Boston Red Sox in the next round. Boston won their series against the Los Angeles Angels 4 games to 3. The World Series is scheduled to begin on October 20th, 2020.
