(FTD, St. Louis)
The 2020 St. Louis Cardinals claimed the Central Division championship with a narrow 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. David Price continued his fantastic season since being traded from the Dodgers. The veteran was able to answer the bell with a strong final start of the regular season. Price went 6.2 innings, only allowing one earned run. He then gave it to the pen which went 2.2 innings of shutdown ball.
This is now back to back NL Central Division crowns for Cardinal manager Mike Shildt in his first two full seasons. "I'm super proud of this group. They've just been total professionals since day one. It hasn't always been pretty, but when you're popping champagne going into October it's always special," said Shildt.
The Cardinals will now wait to see who they'll take on in the upcoming postseason.
