Tommy Edman signs long-term extension

St. Louis received a bit of good news today as their left fielder Tommy Edman accepted a $7,457,142-a-year offer that will keep him in a Cardinals uniform for 7 years. The total terms of the contract will sit around $52 million dollars. Edman 26, has his best years of baseball ahead of him.

This year Edman has been the team leader. He's hitting .312, produced 44 RBIs and 10 home runs, scored 47 times and gotten on base at a .383 rate. The fan favorite will remain in Cardinals jersey for a long time and that makes GM Jonathan Ferguson very happy. "I was really pumped to get this team done. Tommy means everything to this Organization. Honestly, his true value can't be measured. The guy can basically do anything on a baseball field. This was a big deal for Cardinals baseball."
